Hey A1s!
Sectionals(again!) on
monday.
PLEAE TRY TO COME. Sectionals is VERY important because it gives us our own time to fix our own mistakes before combining with the choir and we don't want to cos the whole choir to go out of tune, do we?
Basically, I feel that you guys did well today(clap!)
Ok, there are still a lot of things you guys need to improve, but at least I can see you guys moving your ribs and your abs(Ms
SU!!!) while singing so that is great!! However, you guys must also do your abs exercise(leg lifts, diagonal sit ups, or you can do cycles too :) ) Actually there are a lot of abs exercises u can do at home, but leg lifts are really the most useful ones. :D (which is practically why my abs are screaming out in pain whenever i move them. ouch.)
Ok, I am just going to give an overview of the songs we sang today, so u know where we went wrong, and don't make the same mistakes again!
ALLELUIA
- our E is always flat. Always. No wonder we are always flat because first note already off.
- Transition! Count count count and count! Also, when we change to the next note, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT STEAL your breath there!
- The last few notes, don't go sharp! be careful of the sharps and flats of the last Al-le-luia!
- Support, support and more support
DUI DUI
-SUPPORT!!!! This entire song is all about support! You guys just died at the semi quavers
- Think of how we always do for warm ups, our tch tch tch tch tch. Implement that into your 'hos'
- 'hue chia giang.....' must be BRIGHTER and ALIVE. Also, your 'dui dui dang a yi do..... LALALALALALALA HEI!' needs to be really lifted and alive and bright and HAPPY! :DDDDDDD
-KNOW WHEN TO CHANGE FROM quavers to triplets to semi... and back again!
- Support. and support and mouth wide open. Must be able to fit two fingers in. (and more!)
-hit hard pellet! Your 'hos' should hit your hard pellet and if you are singing it correctly, you will feel a slight vibration at your upper lips(where your cupid's bow is.. the space btw the nose and the mouth?)and a ringing tone surrounding you. Sth like that. You can really feel the ringing tone and the sound vibrating. If u are doing it correctly.
Why we sing
-DYNAMICS! Show the world why we sing! Tell it to them!
-Support. Look happy! It is a happy song!! 'A song of HOPE....' not evil or gloom.....
- Feelings! Just tell people why we sing!
Da hai
- Sound more cheena-ish please. The only way to do that is to listen to more cheena-ish songs
-pure clear vowels.. like gu xiang is (wooooo xeeeeeeAAAHHHnnngggggg)
-sound like some opera singer. Apparantly, we sound too kiddish.
- Dynamics. Now, don't tell me you cannot rmb the dynamics because there is only ONE change in dynamics, which is towards the end. So, better remember and SING it. :D
Ok, so the next songs we will work on next sectionals is Kalinka, Joiku(yoooeekuu) and eh. Dui Dui and Alleluia(see whether you guys rmb and plus, also see whether you guys got do your exrecises!)
Please please take care of yourselves. I don't want any of u falling sick. Gah, losing my voice(duh, kind of expected because I have been like, shouting(not scolding, but just shouting) plus singing from 8.30 in the morning. Of course my vocal chords cannot take it anymore.
Argh, I hate having no voice. ): Pray for me that I will regain my voice soon((:
love ya,
April xxxxxxx
